Work Your Way at Accor

We all have busy lives to live and big dreams to imagine  – lives and dreams that don’t always fit neatly around our working hours and current roles. That’s why we introduced Work Your Way at Accor.

Work Your Way is about doing what matters in every part of your life – whether that’s finding time for 8am swimming lessons, 3 o’clock pick ups or living your dream of working in outback Australia or the snowfields of the South Island.

Work Your Way to your dream role

Work Your Way is a core principle embedded in Accor’s values.
At Accor we understand that everyone’s needs are different when it comes to balancing your life and work.  So when you join Accor we let you take control of your journey.

If you prefer to surf in the morning and work in the afternoon that works, or if you’re like me and have to fit in the school run we can work with that too.  Work your way means we meet you where you’re at.  That is important to me and to our whole team.

Accor opens pathways, which I have had the privilege to experience.
I have worked in the Hospitality industry for nearly 30 years in various locations and roles in Operations and Human Resources. In 2017, I joined Accor initially responsible for Talent & Culture. I have since been appointed as Chief Executive Officer for Accor Pacific responsible for 400 hotels, apartments and resorts, and a team of 18,000 people.

So, if you want to work for a company that cares about our team, guests and partners and that will provide you with endless opportunities, not only across the Pacific but across the globe, then Accor is right for you.

Olivia shares on advice on getting out of your comfort zone

"My Accor journey started whilst completing a Hospitality Management Diploma, and what started as a job quickly turned into my career. Throughout the many years, Accor has provided me with continued training, further development and mentoring, which has lead me to the role I am now in as a Head of Department for multiple hotels. Not only has Accor provided me with the ability to build my career, it has given me a dynamic environment to grow in personally and colleagues that have turned into lifelong friends.

The main piece of advice I would offer, is to take every opportunity and to push yourself out of your comfort zone."

Ceria Dionysius is a proud Wangaapuwan/Yorta Yorta woman from far Western NSW who currently works at Novotel Sydney Central as a Food & Beverage Attendant.

“It was a great honor to be awarded the scholarship for the bachelor is hospitality management. For both Accor and ICMS to recognise potential talent I have and actively help me achieve greater things in my career has just been amazing.”

“This opportunity is giving me a wealth of business insight with a mix practical skill; these I can use to progress in a multitude of ways within the hotel industry. My next plan is to use my new found knowledge and make a change from focusing on Food and Beverage to Front Office Management.”

As the impacts of COVID grew in 2020, she was offered an exciting secondment contract as a Night Manager.

“I started 2020 with a six months secondment contract as a Relief Night Manager/Night Auditor which has been challenging but super exciting. For the most part, the hotel has completely reopened with the exception of a few serving periods in the restaurant and in room dining.”

“My main highlight during this time has been being able to interact with guests again and sharing and listening to the experiences we’ve had with everything going on but mostly having the work family back together again.”
- Taleila Yorkston, Night Manager, Pullman International Cairns
"Every day is different! We are a part of every guests experience by providing an efficient and contactable platform for guests to rely on.

The working environment is upbeat and energetic. We are always looking to better our working platforms whether it is software or day to day tasks!

Experiencing and staying in all of our different hotels around Australia & New Zealand. It allows us to share our knowledge and experience with guests who are staying at our hotels."
- Jasper Graham, Shift Supervisor - MG Reservations, Mantra
“Through Accor I have had multiple opportunities to learn and develop my skills in the hospitality field. Accor has inspired and encouraged me to aim for bigger achievements and has helped me reach personal goals along the way."

"I would say one of the best things that I’ve ever done was to immerse myself in as much as I could. By this I mean participating in all staff outings/functions, projects, training sessions, coaching sessions. The more I was seen being active and involved, the stronger that image of me became which helped create the person I am today. Give it all you’ve got and don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
