What do you enjoy most about your current role?
Being able to engage and influence a team (my team). Working with a group of individuals that inspire me to lead them in making the Ibis Sydney Darling Harbour the best it can be.
What does it take to become a female GM?
You must be determined that all of your passion, commitment to your goals and hard work will bring you career growth. Have a genuine love for providing a positive experience for each and every guest and enjoy helping others reach their goals.
What do you think are the best ways to encourage and assist women to become leaders?
Encourage them to start being themselves and stop trying to emulate our male counterparts. There is nothing more authentic than the brand you. It is widely documented that females have some strong qualities that make them great leaders so we should be cultivating these.
Who inspires you?
Ita Buttrose – She was the first female editor of the Daily & Sunday Telegraph, the youngest editor of Women’s weekly and the founding editor of Cleo whilst raising two children! She also has an AO, OBE, challenges women to “push themselves forward at work” and is a champion for age diversity within the workforce… there is a lot to be inspired by.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in your life? Personal or career?

Of what achievements are you particularly proud?
Developing managers into leaders and overcoming personal adversity to become successful in my career.
What, in your opinion, are the top qualities of women leaders?
I believe we are traditionally better at verbalising what we think and feel so are able to communicate our vision to others more effectively. We are also very empathetic beings who are able to understand how others feel and I believe this does contribute to effectual leadership.
