Alex Excelling at the Novotel Perth Langley

Alex Barnard is a proud Yamatji, Kubbi Kubbi and Torres Strait Islander woman with connections to Moa Island in the Saint Paul community.
She has been working at the Novotel Perth Langley as a Food and Beverage attendant since July 2015 and described herself as “really shy” during her first days on the job. “As months went by I started to develop more confidence by getting out of my comfort zone. With the great support I had from my work mates who helped me step by step, it made coming to work easier.”
Novotel Perth Langley recently awarded Alex Employee of the Month and her team describes her as “genuine and relaxed”, which the guests love and often relay this feedback from their interactions with Alex.
Another highlight during her time at the Novotel Perth Langley is the diversity of people she has met and the opportunities to learn about their backgrounds and heritage.
Alex acknowledges that it isn’t always easy finding the combination of the right job and the right team, but shared some great advice for people looking to start careers with AccorHotels today:
“Always have a positive attitude in taking the first step to building trusting relationships because they will help you in the future. Just by having someone by your side lifting and supporting you really helps you grow.”
